Pit-Stop Program
The Pit Stop, created by Faithful Friends no-kill shelter, is an education, outreach and intervention program for the local community serving the unique needs of pit bulls and pit bull mixes. This program was created to address the high rates of homelessness and euthanasia of pit bull and pit bull mixes occurring in Delaware. Our goal is to educate the community regarding the misunderstanding of the breeds’ needs which often leads to cruelty, neglect, abuse and problem behaviors. The Pit Stop will target owners of this breed and provide free services including: vaccinations, spay/neuter, micro-chipping, dog training and supplies.
The Pit Stop program will also enhance our current shelter adoption program by offering potential adopters advice, education about the breed, training, and adoption follow up. Our in-house dogs will receive training and kennel enrichment. Ultimately this program will allow us to introduce breed ambassadors to the community and create a brighter future for pit bulls.
If you need to have a pit bull or pit bull mix
spayed or neutered, or you know about one that
is being neglected, abused, or has been
abandoned, please contact Jaime at 302-427-8514
ext. 4, or by email at dogmanager@faithfulfriends.us

Operation CatSNip
Operation CatSNip works with local individuals and businesses caring for homeless, unadoptable cats in outside colonies. Trained volunteers humanely trap, transport them to be fixed and then re-release the cats to the caretakers. Financial assistance is available based on need.
Through the work of the Delaware Domestic Animal Coalition, local schools and clubs assist these programs by building and donating cat houses to provide shelter from predators and the elements. We are always in need of volunteers to train in humane trapping and to build shelters.

Sister Josephine and a cat shelter |

Sister Josephine and Mommy |
|
"I was blessed to be raised to love animals", Sr. Josephine |
Sister Josephine had been caring for homeless cats in her Wilmington neighborhood since 1996, when a friendly feral named Mommy came into her life. Over the years, Sr. Josephine had cared for and found good homes for over 30 kittens.
Through Operation CatSNip , Faithful Friends worked with Sister Josephine
and trapped and spayed or neutered the cats that found their way to her loving care. Last Spring, Faithful Friends' volunteers and Sr. Josephine trapped,
and spayed or neutered 7 cats. Faithful Friends also provided Sr. Josephine with a feral cat house to shelter her furry friends.
Sr. Josephine passed away in the fall of 2004, but her legacy and love of
animals will live on through the works of others just like her who continue to
care for homeless animals and help them find the shelter they need to live their
lives to the fullest.
