Prevention

At Faithful Friends we know that only with the involvement and support of the community can we create a more compassionate solution to pet overpopulation and homelessness.  To dramatically reduce the euthanasia rates in Delaware, we worked for 5 years with educating legislators, our membership and the community on the national model spay/neuter programs that are reducing euthanasia dramatically.

In June 2006 we successfully worked with local animal welfare agencies through the support of Carl Danberg, Attorney General to craft and get passed into law a national model law and soon to be program for low cost spay/neuter on a state-wide scale (like our $20 Peg Farrow Program that has ended), It is this program model that fully funded in the states of New Jersey and New Hampshire reduced their euthanasia rates annually anywhere from 45% to 75%.

Outreach

For years, homeless pets have been treated as throw-a-ways or considered surplus and disposed of - but homeless or not - pets have so much to give back - young, old, disabled or ornery these pets are ready to help people!!! That is why the Just 'Fur' You Pet Therapy Program is the first of many outstanding therapeutic programs.

Sponsor A Faithful Friend!

Diva

"Hello! My name is Tanya and I am a very sweet and lovely
10-year-old special needs cat. I was hit by a car and have several healthy issues as a result of this experience. I have to wear a special diaper when I'm roaming around the shelter, but I don't mind making a fashion statement while going to say hello to all my friends! You would never know I've had such a tough journey by my friendly personality. I am very loving and enjoy getting attention. If you have room in your home and heart, I promise I won't disapoint!

Tanya is one of several cats and dogs in our care who are not likely to be adopted easily because of their special needs. You can help her or another dog or cat by signing up for our new Sponsor-A-Friend program. Thank you!

As a sponsor, for as little as $10 a month, you'll receive a photo and letters to update you on your friend's progress and activities. It's an ideal way for youth groups, apartment dwellers or others who can't adopt or foster a pet to share their blessings - and save a life. To sign up, print out this sponsorship form and mail it
in to us at: Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Drive, Wilmington, DE 19804. Thank You!

Betsy Curley Rose Wilbert
Betsy is a sweet and playful 3 year old female orange tabby that was left at the doorstep of Faithful Friends. Nobody knows exactly how she got here, but we do know that she is indeed rare in that it is difficult to find a female orange tabby cat as most are usually male. This girl is a real sweetheart and who knows what other fun  surprises she has up her..paw?

Curley is a sweet 6-7-year old Pit Bull and Boxer mix. "I am an old soul with a big heart in need of a very special home. I came to Faithful Friends from an abusive situation a couple years ago and it is time to find me a real home! I absolutely love people and wiggle my butt when I'm happy! I love to get belly rubs and cuddle in your lap. I like to chew on plush toys or go for car rides. I love cookies and other treats, too! I cannot live with other dogs, cats or small animals. I'd like to live in a home with an experienced individual who is willing to keep me as their only pet. Trust me, I have more than enough love to fill your household!" Adopter must own their own home.

Rose: I'm a former feral who came to the shelter with my two kittens.  They have long since been adopted, but I remain.  I am very shy around people - I haven't learned to trust them yet.  Please sponsor me so that I can continue to get the support from the people at Faithful Friends.

Wilbert: Hi! My name is Wilbert and I am a wonderful special needs cat. I am a 2-year-old neutered male cat who is friendly and loves to be pet! I am affectionate and looking for an owner who will take care of me! I need a caring and loving home! I promise I will love you to pieces!

Tanya
Hi! I'm Trey and I am a 5 year old Pit Bull Mix. I would love a chance at a new home since my owner could no longer care for me. I love to play with other dogs and visit the dog park! I cannot live with cats, but I really enjoy playing with kids and going for car rides! I may be a little shy if you visit me in the shelter, but give me a chance and I know we could be great friends.

Daniella: Hi, I'm Daniella! I'm a beautiful 1 year old female Shepherd mix. I am very sweet and friendly and love to go for walks! I'm very smart and a fast learner, to! I will need to be the only pet in the home, but I love people and can't wait to get to know you! Please give me a chance at a new and loving forever home.

Monkey: Hi! I'm Monkey! I'm a handsome chocolate & white 10 month old American Pit Bull Terrier male. My name is Monkey because I make all kinds of funny little sounds that remind you of a cute little monkey. I am a really big talker with a super outgoing personality to match. I get along great with most other dogs and cats. I'm still working on house training, but I'm doing very well so far. I would do best in an active home with an experienced owner. I love to run and play and would do best in a home with children over the age of 10. If you're looking for a handsome guy to brighten your day and keep you laughing all night long, then look no further! I'm in a foster home right now, so call to make an appointment to meet me!

Marigold: Hi! I'm Marigold! I'm a 3 year old Rottie Girl. I've had a bit of a rough start and I am looking for a new life and a new owner that can show me how great life is. I was pushed out of a car as it sped off, but luckily a good samaritan scooped me up and took me to safety. I'm a big wiggle butt when I'm happy, especially when you tell me I'm a good girl. I like cats and other dogs. I would need a home with no kids or kids over the age of 10. I am still working on house training and would do best in a home with a fenced yard. I love chew treats and playing tug or going for rides in the car. I even like baths and being brushed. Come down and see what a special girl I am!
