- If it’s a cat that is lost, most cats hide under something very close to where they got out of the home or location where he or she was last seen therefore you should walk around look under bushes, sheds, porches etc.., you actually need to get down on their level, so on the ground on your stomach is the best vantage point and cats that are scared and lost will not come if you call for them. It is also not a bad idea to set a humane trap right near where they got out and you can borrow one or two right from us. We will show you how to use it and be of any assistance we can in helping you find your lost cat. You can always feel free to call our Cat Department Manager for more advice on how to best search for cats 427-8514 ext. 3.

Have you found a pet?
Strays could be lost or abandoned pets: If they growl or if you are fearful, call the local SPCA to come and get the animal. If the dog or cat appears friendly determine if you want to try and take it in until the owner or a home can be found. Check for a tag and contact the owner information on the tag. If there is no identification, follow these next steps:
- Take the pet to a local veterinary office or shelter to be scanned for a microchip. If there is a microchip, the owner can be contacted. If there is no microchip, get a temporary id tag. Get important vaccinations for the pet and keep the stray in a separate place from children or other animals until you know him/her better.
